Are you downsizing your library or managing a collection? We offer a simple way to sell books locally with fair offers.

At STL Book Buyers, we focus on buying books—making it simple to sell quality books locally for cash. Based in St. Louis, we provide fair, transparent offers and an easy process, with free local pickup or secure drop-off at a central location.
We specialize in textbooks, academic and professional titles, religious and theological commentary sets, esoteric works, and graphic novel box sets or compendiums. Whether you’re downsizing a personal library or parting with a collection, our focus is always on the books themselves and providing a clear, respectful experience.

Enjoy free local pickup or secure drop-off when you sell books to us. We focus on a simple, transparent process so you always know what to expect. Unlike general bookstores, we buy selectively—prioritizing higher-quality, in-demand books and complete sets rather than bulk paperbacks. This allows us to offer fair pricing while keeping the experience clear and efficient.

We specialize in buying high-quality, in-demand books, including:
• College and university textbooks (recent editions preferred)
• Academic and university press titles
• Professional and technical reference books
• Religious and theological commentary sets
• Esoteric and specialized works
• Graphic novels, hardcover editions, box sets, omnibuses, and compendiums
We typically do not purchase mass-market paperbacks, general fiction, children’s books, damaged books, or encyclopedias. Our focus is on books with lasting research, reference, or collectible value.

We make offers based on current demand for specific editions, condition, and how quickly similar books are finding new homes through collectors, students, and specialty readers.
Our goal is to make fair, transparent offers that reflect real-world demand while allowing us to professionally handle, store, and redistribute books to the right audiences.
We focus on books with sustained demand so we can offer meaningful payouts and a smooth experience. Some categories — such as mass-market paperbacks, children’s books, or encyclopedias — are better served by donation due to oversupply and limited reader demand.
Being selective allows us to spend our time and resources on books that truly benefit both sellers and future readers.
If you’re unsure whether your books qualify, feel free to ask — we’re happy to take a look.
The easiest way to get an offer is to send us a list of ISBNs (the barcode numbers on the back of most books). Photos are helpful, but ISBNs allow us to quickly identify the exact edition and provide accurate offers. Providing ISBNs allows us to respond much faster than photos alone.
An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique number used to identify a specific book edition.
You can usually find it:
Older books may not have ISBNs — in those cases, photos and publication details can help.
We offer free local pickup in the St. Louis / Metro East area for qualifying collections.
Smaller collections can be dropped off at a secure, agreed-upon location. All details are arranged in advance to ensure a smooth handoff.
Yes. We regularly work with estates, downsizing households, and academic or professional libraries. Large collections are evaluated carefully and respectfully, with clear communication throughout the process.
Payment is made promptly at pickup or drop-off, using a method agreed upon in advance. We aim to keep the process simple and straightforward.
If your books aren’t something we’re able to purchase, we’re happy to let you know quickly so you can explore donation or other options.
